What is Race Pace AI?
Race Pace AI is a powerful stopwatch and race prediction tool designed for track distance runners, coaches, and parents. It uses real-time pacing data to forecast race finish times and help athletes stay on track during training or competition.

Who created the Race Pace AI App? 👋

Hi! I’m Tom, the creator of Race Pace AI. I’m a former high school and college distance runner, lifelong fan of track and field, and now a proud dad cheering on my 17-year-old daughter, who runs distance in high school.

This app started with a simple wish: I wanted to be able to shout out my daughter’s projected finish time each lap, not just her split. But most stopwatches just give you lap times, with no insight into where a runner is headed. I found myself doing quick math in my head or memorizing pacing charts, which isn’t ideal when you’re yelling across a track.

So I built something that could help. First it was a small web-based prototype,  then I kept refining it, improving the algorithm to give more accurate, real-time predictions. Over time, it turned into the app you’re using now.

Whether you’re a coach, parent, or athlete, I hope Race Pace AI helps you better understand and enjoy the strategy of racing. Thanks for being part of it!

How does the race predictor work?
Race Pace AI uses a custom algorithm that analyzes lap splits and estimates finish times based on the athlete's historical pace trends. The predictor uses a proprietary finish time algorithm and gets smarter over time as it incorporates historical pacing trends at various race lengths for a given athlete. It's ideal for track events like the 1600m or 3200m but works for any race length where laps can be tracked, even lengths such as 5000m or 10000m.

What’s the difference between the Live Race Predictor and the Split Calculator?
- Live Race Predictor: Works like a stopwatch and updates finish time predictions after each lap based on real-time and historical pacing. Perfect for tracking races as they happen.
- Split Calculator: Generates ideal target splits based on a chosen finish time and strategy (even pacing, fast start, etc.). It’s a planning tool used before the race.

What do the different race strategies mean in the Split Calculator?
When using the Split Calculator, you can choose from several pacing strategies to match your runner’s style or race plan:

  • Adrenaline Start: Starts with a slightly faster first lap, then settles into a consistent pace with a stronger last lap. This algorithm uses historical race data to mimic typical pacing.

  • Even Splits: Each lap is run at the same pace ideal for steady, consistent racing or training.

  • Negative Splits: Each lap gets progressively faster, a strategy used to build momentum and finish strong.

These strategies help tailor pacing plans to individual strengths and race-day tactics.

Who is the app for?
The app is built for:
- Athletes who want smarter pacing insights
- Coaches who train and manage distance runners
- Parents tracking and supporting their kids at track meets meets

Is the app free to use?
You can try the app for free with limited access (based on usage or time). After that, a one-time purchase unlocks full access. There are no subscriptions or recurring fees.

What do I get with the full version?
The full version includes unlimited access to the live race predictor and split calculator tools plus access to historical logs, export tools, and pacing charts.
